Kogi State Governor, Alhaji Yahaya Bello has called on Nigerians not to allow themselves to be used as agent of distabilisation by politicians bent on truncating the political process for selfish gains.
Bello was speaking on Thursday in Lokoja at a symposium to mark the seventh year anniversary of his administration organized by the state council of the Nigerian Union of Journalists,NUJ
According to him,”as the 2023 general election is fast approaching,it is pertinent to warn Nigerian especially the youths not to make themselves available as a willing tool in the hands of political elements who are bent on distrupting the political process by truncating the election for their personal gains”.
“Some people want hide under the present fuel and currency scarcity to forment trouble so that the election would not hold,I want to warn such people to know that government will not fold it’s arms and allow them set the country ablaze”
“The president has spoken,no one will be intimidated,no one will be forced to do something against his will. This will be enforced to the later” Bello added.
Bello called on Nigerians to cooperate with the President, Major General Muhammadu Buhari who had promised at different fora to provide a level playing field for everyone to vote for a candidate of their choice without any fear as adequate security would be provided before and after the elections.
Speaking on his achievements in the last seven years,the governor said that the level of infrastructural neglect he met on ground on assumption of office in 2015 was his motivating factor which led him to developing home grown formula in solving some of the myriads of problems he met on ground.
“Giving the standard already set by the New Direction Governnent of the last seven years,I will urge the incoming government to endeavour to build on the foundation already laid to move our state forward” the governor added.
