Troops rescue 10 kidnap victims, recover arms, ransom in Kaduna

Troops of Sector 5 under Operation Peace Shield have rescued 10 kidnapped victims and recovered arms, ammunition, and ransom money during a successful operation in Kaduna State.
The victims were abducted on 29 November 2025 from their farms in Ungwan Nungu, Sanga Local Government Area, prompting the deployment of troops for an immediate search-and-rescue mission.
According to military authorities, the breakthrough occurred at about 6:40 a.m. on 5 December 2025 when troops made contact with the kidnappers as they attempted to collect ransom from the victims’ relatives. The soldiers engaged the criminals with superior firepower, forcing them to flee into the forest and abandon the captives.
All 10 victims — including one adult male, three male children, three elderly women, and three female children — were rescued unharmed. They have since been debriefed and reunited with their families.
During the operation, troops recovered one fabricated AK-47 rifle, a round of 9mm ammunition, and ₦1.6 million identified as ransom money.
The Nigerian Army said the operation underscores its commitment to safeguarding citizens, denying criminal elements freedom of action, and ensuring that communities across the country can live and work in safety.
