Determined to meet the current security challenges in the country, the Minister of Interior Dr. Olubunmi Tunde-Ojo, on Thursday paid an unscheduled visit to the Nigeria Security and Civil Defense (NSCDC) Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Command, to inspect personnel and their facilities to ensure that they are fulfilling mandate and standard operating procedures.
The minister, during the visit inspected the newly constructed quarter guard, the on-going training ground under construction and other facilities at the command.
Speaking after the inspection, Tunde-Ojo charged officers and men of the command to discharge their responsibilities efficiently and effectively to meet up the renewed expectations of Mr. President.
He also charged the officers of the Command to remain alert and, up and doing, adding that what he has seen on ground is an indication that the FCT Commandant is leaving with the future in view.
The minister also expressed satisfaction with the performance of the NSCDC-FCT Commandant, Dr. Olusola Odumosu, noting that paramilitary is about constant and proactive training for efficiency and effective service delivery.
“The NSCDC has a huge role to play in internal and external security during this challenging period in our country. We are here to see your preparedness and as a matter of fact, I am impressed with your dedication and performance, Tunde – Ojo stated.
He assured the FCT Command of Mr. President’s readiness to support every initiative that will better the Corps in any area that will improve security in the country.
In a statement by the acting public relations officer of the command, DSC Monica Ojobi, the minister explained that the visit was in line with President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s marching order to put all the security formations in perfect condition to meet the current security challenges in the country.
