Nigeria’s Minister of Defence, Mohammed Badaru Abubakar, has arrived in Bamako, Mali, for the maiden edition of the Bamako International Defence and Security Exhibition (BAMEX 2025).

The exhibition, which brings together African nations and global partners, aims to strengthen collaboration in defence technology, intelligence sharing, and regional peacebuilding.

On arrival at the Military Wing of the Bamako International Airport, Badaru was received by the Malian Minister of Defence and Veterans Affairs, General Sadio Camara, alongside senior officers of the Malian Armed Forces. The reception featured a colourful military parade held in honour of the visiting Nigerian minister.

Following the formal welcome, both ministers held a brief but strategic meeting, focusing on deepening bilateral cooperation between Nigeria and Mali. Discussions centred on enhancing joint efforts in counter-terrorism, regional security, and defence capacity building.

BAMEX 2025, which marks Mali’s first international defence and security exhibition, serves as a key platform for nations to exchange ideas and showcase innovations in military hardware, intelligence systems, and emerging defence technologies. The event underscores Africa’s growing resolve to develop homegrown solutions to evolving security threats across the continent.

The Defence Minister is expected to participate in a series of high-level engagements and multilateral discussions during the exhibition, reflecting Nigeria’s continued commitment to regional stability and collaborative security frameworks.
