Governor Chukwuma Soludo of Anambra State has fulfilled his promise to reward the state’s award-winning teachers recognized at the President’s Teachers and Schools Excellence Awards.

Through the Commissioner for Education, Prof. Ngozi Chuma-Udeh, Soludo presented N10 million cheques to each teacher who won a vehicle and N5 million cheques to each first runner-up, in addition to laptops and computers awarded by the Federal Government.

The governor said the gesture was to honour their outstanding performance, which brought recognition to the state.

“At this year’s Presidential Teachers Award, Anambra teachers did exceptionally well, winning nine awards, including a brand-new 16-seater bus and eight laptops. From now on, any teacher or school that wins such an award will receive N10 million for first position and N5 million for first runner-up,” he said.

Soludo had earlier promised during the 2025 Teachers’ Day celebration to reward the winners and provide N20,000 transport stipends to every teacher who attended, a pledge he has now fulfilled.

The awardees thanked the governor for his generosity and commitment to education, pledging to sustain the state’s record of excellence.

Among the beneficiaries were Mrs. Royaline Ikebuaso and Mrs. Nkechi Ikedi of Pinkberry International School, Odume Obosi; Mrs. Amaka Anaekwe of Capital City Secondary School, Awka; and Mr. Cosmas Nwattah of Igbariam.

Dignitaries present included the Chairmen of the Post Primary Schools Service Commission, Prof. Nkechi Ikediugwu; and the Anambra State Universal Basic Education Board, Dr. Vera Nwadinobi; as well as Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Education, Dr. Ifeoma Agbaizu.
