NPFL seals N2bn landmark deal to expand TV, data rights

    Published on

The Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL) has announced a groundbreaking N2 billion five-year commercial agreement with Inview Technologies Nigeria Limited and AS Production Hub Limited for data management and content commercialization.

The deal includes an upfront activation fee of N800 million, marking one of the most ambitious financial commitments in the history of Nigerian club football.

Under the new arrangement, NPFL matches will now be available on free-to-air television and digital platforms, a major step towards expanding nationwide viewership and deepening fan engagement.

Speaking at the signing ceremony, NPFL Chairman, Otunba Gbenga Elegbeleye, said the league is entering a new era of “commercial innovation, content expansion, and wider access.”

“We want every Nigerian home, in villages, towns, and cities, to easily watch NPFL games. This partnership helps us create consistent, quality content on multiple platforms,” Elegbeleye stated.

He emphasized that the deal is part of a broader plan to “unbundle the league,” allowing multiple broadcast partners and increasing revenue streams for clubs and players.

NFF President, Alhaji Ibrahim Musa Gusau, commended the NPFL’s leadership for its steady progress despite challenges, describing the move as “foundational for sustainable league development.”

In a related development, the NPFL also entered into a N600 million strategic data partnership with Round Up Technology, including an annual N140 million commitment for player statistics, match analytics, and performance data.

Dignitaries at the event included NBC DG Charles Ebuebu, NOA DG Lanre Issa-Onilu, and VON DG Jibrin Baba Ndace.

With this dual structure, broadcast unbundling and direct data monetization, the NPFL appears poised for its most commercially vibrant era yet.
