    New CP, Naziru Bello assumes duty in Kogi

    The new Kogi state commissioner of Police,Naziru Bello officially assumed duty as the 40th commissioner of Police on Wednesday

    C P Naziru Bello succeeds CP Miller G. Dantawaye, who has been redeployed to FCT Command.

    This was contained in a statement issued on Wednesday in Lokoja by the command’s spokesman CSP William Aya.

    The new CP hails from Kano Municipal LGA of Kano State. He holds B.Sc Economics and Political Science (Combined Honours), Bachelor of Law (BL), Barrister at Law, LLM, Master of Laws (LLM), currently pursuing his PhD.

    CP Naziru was enlisted into the Nigeria Police Force on 10th June, 1994 as a Cadet Assistant Superintendent of Police (C/ASP) and was trained at the prestigious Police Academy, Wudil, Kano State.

    He has, over three decades, attended tactical operations as well as strategic leadership and Command Courses, some of which include:
    – Citizenship and Leadership Course at Shere Hills, Jos – 1995
    – Combat Operations Course at PMF Training College, Gwoza – 1995
    – Squadron Commander Courses at PMF Training College, Ila Orangun, Osun State – 2008, 2009, 2010, and 2016
    – Tactical Leadership and Command Course at Police Staff College, Jos, Plateau State – 2014
    – Strategic Leadership and Command Course at National Institute of Police Studies, Life Camp, Abuja – 2021
    – Senior Executive Course (SEC) 46/2024 at National Institute of Policy and Strategic Studies, Kuru, Jos, Plateau State – 2024-2025.

    CP Naziru is a seasoned Police officer who has traversed the length and breadth of law enforcement and policing with over three decades of experience in security management. He has held several Command positions and carried out multiple tasks in his illustrious career, some of which include:
    – Aide-de-camp (ADC) to Executive Governor of Kwara State – 1999-2003
    – Squadron Commander 9 PMF, Kano State – 2005-2006
    – Squadron Commander 10 PMF, Bauchi State – 2006-2010
    – Squadron Commander 48 PMF, Ahoada, Rivers State – 2010-2012
    – O/C X-Squad, Kwara State Command – 2012
    – DPO Adewale Police Division, Ilorin – 2014-2015
    – Squadron Commander 54 PMF, Onitsha, Anambra State – 2015-2016
    – O/C X-Squad, Zone 1, Headquarters, Kano – 2016-2017
    – ACP IGP’s X-Squad, Kano State Command – 2017-2019
    – ACP IGP’s X-Squad, Jigawa State Command – Jan. 2019
    – Area Commander, Ikot Ekpene Police Area Command, Akwa Ibom – 2019-2022
    – DCP Operations, Zone 3 Headquarters, Yola, Adamawa State – 2022-2023
    – DCP Zonal Criminal Investigation Department, Zone 1, Headquarters, Kano – 2023-2024
    – DCP Department of Finance and Administration, Zone 1, Headquarters, Kano – 2024, before his eventual deployment to Kogi State Police Command as the 40th Commissioner of Police.

    CP Naziru belongs to some professional membership organisations, including:
    – Member, International Association of Chiefs of Police (IACP)
    – Member, Nigerian Bar Association (NBA)
    – Member, Muslim Lawyers Association (MULAN)
    – Member, National Institute of Police Studies (MNIPS)
    – Member, National Institute (mni)

    The command’s spokesman said that
    “The CP has a proven track record of developing and implementing effective security strategies that have resulted in significant reductions in security breaches in areas he served. ”

    The new CP has the requisite expertise, integrity, courage, and experience to oversee the affairs of policing in Kogi Command.

    Aya described the new CP as “being committed to building on the numerous achievements of his predecessor while adopting new strategies to enhance security in the State. He loves reading and travelling. He is happily married with children”.
