Osimhen: Galatasaray eyes N8.5bn boost from unveiling ceremony

    Published on

Turkish football powerhouse Galatasaray is set to turn Victor Osimhen’s unveiling into a financial spectacle, with the event expected to generate around €5 million (₦8.5 billion) in ticket and merchandise sales.

Osimhen, who joined from Napoli in a record €75 million transfer, will be officially unveiled at RAMS Park on Saturday, August 2, ahead of a pre-season friendly against Lazio.

According to Turkish outlet Fotomac, the club is banking on “Osimhen Mania” to help recover part of the mammoth transfer fee. Leroy Sané is also expected to be unveiled at the same event.

Ticket prices have been set at a premium, with the cheapest going for 1,300 Turkish Lira (₦49,000). A sold-out crowd is expected, eager to welcome one of Africa’s brightest stars.

Galatasaray’s stores are also preparing for a surge in demand for Osimhen-themed merchandise, including jerseys, scarves, and memorabilia.

Officials estimate that revenue from the unveiling will cover about 7% of Osimhen’s total transfer cost—which includes €40 million upfront, €35 million in structured installments, and a sell-on clause.

Though yet to kick a ball in this new stint, Osimhen is already a cult hero among Galatasaray fans, having previously bagged 37 goals and 8 assists during a sensational loan spell that delivered a league and cup double.
