The Nigerian Senate has officially adjourned plenary until September 23, 2025, closing the curtain on the current legislative year.

Senate President Godswill Akpabio made the announcement on Thursday after a closed-door session lasting over an hour.

He urged all standing and ad hoc committees to use the break productively by finalising all pending reports before resumption.

Akpabio also encouraged senators to take advantage of the recess to inspect ongoing road projects in their constituencies and across Nigeria, describing oversight as a key legislative responsibility.

As part of their recess engagements, lawmakers are expected to travel to Jos, Plateau State, on Friday to attend the funeral of the late wife of their colleague, Senator Diket Plang.
