Senator Shehu Sani has advised current and future Nigerian leaders, including President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and state governors — to learn from the intense backlash trailing the death of former President Muhammadu Buhari.
Shehu Sani issued the warning via his verified X (formerly Twitter) handle on Wednesday, July 16, 2025, amid rising criticism and unfiltered reactions to Buhari’s passing.
In his post, Sani observed that the public outcry following Buhari’s death is a sign of deep-rooted resentment harbored by many Nigerians .
“The present and future crop of Nigerian leaders should take lessons from the wave of unrefined emotions of Nigerians in the last 48 hours,” he wrote.
He described the current youth population and political observers as, Unrestrained in anger, Unfiltered in bitterness, Unforgiving in their souls.
“A new generation of retributive citizens have evolved,” Sani stressed, warning that public office holders should be prepared for judgment by posterity and the masses, not just by their peers.
