    Kano state govt approves ₦69bn as developmental projects, interventions across various sectors

    The Kano state government has announced the approval of
    ₦69,057,747,235.36, for several developmental projects and interventions across various sectors in the state, aimed at improving service delivery, enhancing infrastructure, and advancing the welfare of the good people of the state.

    Commissioner, ministry of information and internal affairs, Comrade Ibrahim A. Waiya, who announced this in a press briefing at the end the 29th meeting of Kano state executive council held on Wednesday, said that health, education, energy and power, water resources, and other sectors would benefit from the approved development projects.

    Waiya said that the sum of ₦180,000,000.00, has been approved as counterpart funding for the supply of commodities under the Free Maternal, Neonatal and Child Health, and Free Accident and Emergency Programme, while procurement of a brand-new Toyota Coaster bus for the School of Health Technology, Bebeji, will cost ₦240,000,000.00.

    Also, the sum of ₦107,385,600.00, has been budgeted for provision and deployment of essential requirements for the full operation of Kano Ultra-Modern Specialist Hospital (KUSH), while the sum of
    ₦344,731,419.00 was approved for the state government counterpart funding for Routine Immunization (RI) activities for Q2 2025.

    According to the commissioner also announced general renovation of dilapidated structures at: Government Technical College, Dambatta 1(₦452,352,049.35),
    Government Technical College, Ungogo (Phase I) (N349,950,272.27), Government Girls Secondary School, Balan, Tsanyawa (₦151,877,921.58),
    Government Secondary School, Guringawa (₦266,766,317.19),
    Establishment of a primary school at Gishiri-Wuya community in Warawa LGA (₦190,294,598.27)

    Also approved, according to Waiya, is the renovation/rehabilitation of: French Bilingual College, Kwankwaso (N158,479,747.41), Chinese Bilingual College, Kwankwaso (N349,071,558.04), conduct of 2025 internal examinations (BECE/BEICE & SSQE/SAISQE) (N300,637,500.00), Settlement of outstanding liabilities for boarding school feeding (3 weeks) (N718,739,609.28), and renovation of 13 closed boarding schools that were shut down by the previous administration across the state (N3,039,878,501.70).

    Also on the approval list is the supply and installation of two generating sets, synchronizing ATS, and MV panels at Government House, Kano (₦2,176,919,438.28); supply and laying of low voltage (LV) cables at Government House (N393,735,424.88), Stabilization of electric power supply in the Regional Water Supply Scheme (N320,857,569.00), and the settlement of outstanding debts for the operation and maintenance of Tiga 10MW and Challawa 2x3MW hydro power plants (₦94,541,070.30).

    On water resources, the commissioner said Settlement of energy bills to KEDCO for: March 2025 is ₦188,359,946.14, while that of April 2025 is (N286,979,599.10).

    Also payment for diesel supply for May 2025 – 100,000 litres is ₦260,000,000.00, while for 59,000 litres is ₦153,400,000.00, just as
    120,000 litres AGO & 17,000 litres PMS will cost ₦300,000,000.00.

    Waiya added that the Commencement of NEWMAP-EIB project would cost ₦300,000,000.00, Construction of reinforced concrete drainage at Toranke, Ajingi LGA (N137,664,256.31), Construction of minor drainage at Hotoron Arewa, Nassarawa LGA (₦185,958,458.44), Minor drainage clearance across 88 wards in 8 metropolitan LGAs (₦343,082,400.00).

    On transportation, the commissioner said that the Procurement of 500 units of modern electric tricycles under the Abba Gida Gida Mass Transport Empowerment and Employment Programme would cost ₦3,708,750,000.00, while the Construction of a mini stadium in Kwankwaso, Madobi LGA will cost ₦152,181,820.30.

    He continued, “Settlement of May 2025 energy bills at Aliko Dangote University of Science & Technology, Wudil (₦30,144,693.13), Renewal of NCAA pilot licenses for Kano State pilot trainees (N91,200,000.00), Construction of road network at the Security Institute, Gabasawa (N156,111,474.31), Rehabilitation/asphalt overlay of RMK Flyover – IBB Road – Kofar Mazugal Junction – Katsina Road (₦7,805,598,371.63), Expansion of Katsina Road (Baban Gwari Roundabout – Mil Tara), including five RC pedestrian bridges (N24,774,204,969.98), Construction of 10 concrete pedestrian bridges at strategic locations (N3,841,122,109.80), among others.
