Supreme court affirms victory of Senator Monday Okpebholo as Governor of Edo State

In dismissing the appeal filed by the PDP and its candidate in the 2024 Edo governorship election, Asue Ighodalo, the apex Court noted that the Appellants challenged 395 polling units out of the 5019 polling units in the entire state.

The Court held that the Appellants did not discharge the onus of proof imposed on them as Petitioners under Section 135 of the Electoral Act for establishing substantial non-compliance.

The apex Court held that the Court of Appeal was right in expunging the admission of the BVAS machines from the record and that the Appellants failed to tender admissible credible evidence to prove the two grounds of their petition. The Court finally held that the appeal was without merit. The court made no order as to cost.
