In a major breakthrough against organised motorcycle theft, operatives of the Gombe State Police Command have arrested two suspects and recovered three motorcycles, including one abandoned during a routine patrol.

According to a press release issued by the Police Public Relations Officer, DSP Buhari Abdullahi, the operation was carried out by a team under Operation Hattara led by CSP Ali Madawaki.

The operation followed a tip-off from a Good Samaritan, which led police to a criminal hideout at Tudun Hayin Kwarin Misau, Akko Local Government Area. Two suspects were arrested at the scene: Misba’u Adamu, 25, from Alkaleri LGA, Bauchi State, and Adamu Ibrahim, 28, from Garko LGA, Kano State

During interrogation, the suspects confessed to breaking into the residence of one Mohammed Usman in Hayin Kwarin-Misau around 4:00 a.m. on July 6, 2025. They made away with two motorcycles: a Qlink Cassie with registration number ABC 484 WN, a Hero Hunter with registration number GME 36 QL.

The stolen items, valued at ₦1.8 million, were recovered from a location where they had been hidden by one Babangida (surname yet to be confirmed).

Police said that efforts are ongoing to arrest the syndicate leader and other accomplices still at large.

In a separate development, police on routine night patrol around 1:00 a.m. in the Wuro Birji area of Akko LGA intercepted a black Jincheng Kasea motorcycle with registration number DKU 099 UK.

The rider, upon sighting the patrol team, abandoned the motorcycle and fled.

Efforts to trace the fleeing suspect and the rightful owner of the abandoned motorcycle are ongoing.

The Gombe State Police Command has reassured the public of its commitment to fighting crime and urged residents to continue providing useful information to support ongoing security efforts.
