Oyo PDP chieftain resigns, cites ‘deep seated injustice’

    Published on

Ahead of the upcoming by-election in Oyo State, the Chairman of the Peoples’ Democratic Party (PDP) in Ibadan North Local Government Area, Prince Seun Adelore, has resigned from his position.

In a resignation letter addressed to the Oyo State PDP Chairman, Adelore cited what he described as “deep-seated injustice” within the party as his reason for stepping down.

He also lamented the party’s failure to reward loyalty, stating that his decision followed extensive consultations with his political associates and supporters.

The letter, obtained by New National Star on Monday, read:
“I write to formally tender my resignation as Chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Ibadan North Local Government, effective July 7, 2025. I also hereby withdraw my membership from the party.”

Adelore further accused the party of promoting imposition and intimidation, issues he said have hindered the growth of internal democracy within the PDP.

His resignation comes just weeks before a by-election to fill the vacant Ibadan North Federal Constituency seat, previously held by Hon. Musliudeen Olaide Akinremi, who passed away last year while serving his second term in office under the APC.

The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) recently announced that the by-election will be held in August 2025.

Adelore’s departure adds fresh tension to the political atmosphere in a constituency already poised for a competitive race.
