On Tuesday evening, Mercedes Kilmer, the daughter of Val Kilmer, a native Hollywood actor, confirmed that her father had passed away.

The New York Times reports that following a protracted fight with pneumonia, the 65-year-old actor passed away in Los Angeles on Tuesday.

Kilmer, who made his entertainment debut in “Top Gun,” was also known for his roles as Doc Holliday in “Tombstone,” Jim Morrison in “The Doors,” and Batman in “Batman Forever.”

In addition, Kilmer had significant parts in Willow (1988), The Saint (1997), Heat (1995), and, most recently, Top Gun: Maverick.

Before his career was marred by a string of failures and arguments with co-stars and directors, he was one of the most well-known Hollywood actors in the 1990s.

Kilmer developed a reputation for being erratic, passionate, meticulous, and occasionally conceited throughout the years.

The actor was diagnosed with throat cancer in 2014, but he recovered, according to Mr. Kilmer’s daughter.
