A team from the Nigerian Air Force (NAF) attacked the Ikeja Electricity Distribution Company (IKEDC) headquarters on Thursday, following the disconnection of electricity supply due to outstanding bills.

According to eyewitnesses, the military stormed the IKEDC premises opposite MITV in Ikeja, Lagos State, at approximately 7:40 a.m, breaking doors and allegedly assaulting the CEO, Mrs. Folake Soetan, before forcing her into the trunk of a vehicle within the premises.

Additionally, a video circulating on social media revealed that IKEDC staff were allegedly subjected to varying degrees of physical assault by military officers.

A similar attack took place at Ikeja Electric’s business unit on Ago Palace Way, Okota, Isolo, Lagos, where military personnel were observed wielding firearms and assaulting staff members.

Journalists who were present at the DisCo’s premises during the uproar were not left out on the assault as the officers confiscated their gadgets and threatened to shoot if act otherwise.

The military team, led by a female officer, barricaded the road leading to Ikeja Electric, effectively preventing movement and operating without interference.

The armed officers, reportedly infuriated by the disconnection, stormed the premises, demanding the immediate reconnection of electricity supply.

This unfortunate development occurred just a day after Ikeja Electric cut off the electricity supply to the NAF logistics base in Ikeja due to unpaid bills and electricity theft.

The officers were later seen leaving IKEDC office, taking along with them engineers and drivers, whom they allegedly intended to force into reconnecting power supply to their barracks.
