The National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) has recently organized advanced training for its officers on the Advance Passenger Information System and Passenger Targeting/Intelligence Gathering to enhance their ability to combat cross-border drug trafficking.

The training, which took place in Côte d’Ivoire and Abuja, aimed to bolster the agency’s capacity to target high-risk passengers, cargo, and mail. It also emphasized improving international cooperation to dismantle transnational criminal networks involved in drug smuggling.

Facilitated by the United Nations Office on Drugs and Crime, the programme saw the participation of key NDLEA commanders, including ACGN Usman Ali Wadar of the Murtala Muhammed International Airport Strategic Command and CN Mohammed Ajiya of the Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport. Additionally, 13 officers from both airports underwent a five-day training session in Abuja.

NDLEA Chairman Brig. Gen. Buba Marwa (retd.) commended the officers for their dedication and urged them to apply their newly acquired skills to strengthen airport security and disrupt drug trafficking operation
