The Oyo State Government has announced a ban on meetings by head teachers and teachers during school hours, effective immediately. This decision, announced by Nureni Adeniran, Chairman of the State Universal Basic Education Board (SUBEB), aims to improve educational efficiency and ensure that teaching time is fully utilized.

Adeniran made the announcement while monitoring school resumption in Ibadan, the state capital. He emphasized that any teacher or head teacher found holding meetings during school hours, whether on or off school premises, will face severe consequences.

“This is a stern warning to all head teachers and teachers. From now on, any primary school head teacher engaging in such activities will be dealt with severely,” Adeniran stated. He also urged educational unions and associations to comply with this new policy as the school session begins.

The Education Secretaries have been directed to ensure that all head teachers in their respective Local Government universal basic education authorities are informed of this policy change.

In related news, Adeniran reiterated the board’s commitment to utilizing technology to advance the state’s education system. During a three-day training session on the BESDA Attendance Monitoring Information System, he highlighted the importance of the BAMID APP for improving performance metrics, including punctuality and learning activity monitoring.

Adeniran commended the Universal Basic Education Commission (UBEC) for developing the BAMIS APP, a tool designed to enhance the effectiveness of basic education delivery. He noted that significant resources have been invested in this program, underscoring its importance to the board’s core mandate.
