In a disappointing turn of events for Team Nigeria, Tobi Amusan, the world record holder for the 100m hurdles, was unable to secure a place in the final of the event on Thursday. Despite her impressive performance at the Paris 2024 Olympics, where she won her heat and advanced to the semifinals with a time of 12.49 seconds, Amusan’s run in the semifinals fell short.

Amusan finished third in her semifinal heat with a time of 12.55 seconds. Her position was not enough to secure one of the two automatic spots for the final. Although she hoped to qualify as one of the fastest losers, her time was insufficient to place her among the final eight competitors.
