Ijaw youths under the umbrella of Ijaw Youth Council (IYC), have described Chief Government Oweizide Ekpomupolo, popularly known as Tompolo as an harbinger of hope and development in Nigeria.

They added that the entire Ijaw nation is proud of him as its highly revered leader owing to his sacrifices in the struggle to emancipate Ijaw people.

Spokesman of IYC Worldwide, Amb Binebai Princewill in statement to mark the birthday of Tompolo, said the IYC is extremely excited to celebrate the birth anniversary of a renowned Niger Delta and Ijaw leader who has paid his dues for the economic and political survival of the Ijaw people.

The IYC spokesman said through his company, Tantita Security Services, Tompolo has played a crucial role in securing crude oil pipelines, thereby preventing oil theft and sabotage.

He pointed out that Tompolo’s dedication and hard work has contributed to the economic progress of Nigeria, ensuring a more sustainable future for generations to come, as the hitherto dead aquatic life has been restored.

According to the statement, “As a council, the IYC is extremely excited to celebrate the birth anniversary of a renowned Niger Delta and Ijaw leader who has paid his dues for the economic and political survival of the Ijaw people and the Niger Delta at large.

“Today, the entire Ijaw nation is proud of Tompolo as our highly revered leader owing to his sacrifices in the struggle to emancipate our people. We are very lucky to have Tompolo in this present era of our nascent movement for resource control.

“Tompolo’s leadership has been marked by unwavering dedication, resilience, and a commitment to the betterment of our communities.

“His vision for a prosperous and empowered Niger Delta has inspired countless youths to actively participate in the struggle for justice and equity.

“Notably, Tompolo has made significant contributions to national peace through his selfless sacrifice and tireless efforts in advocating for the rights of the Niger Delta people.

“His unwavering commitment to dialogue and peaceful resolution of conflicts has played a pivotal role in fostering harmony and stability in the region and Nigeria at large,” the statement read in part.

According to him, Tompolo’s efforts have not only benefited the Niger Delta but have also contributed to the overall development of Nigeria.

“His advocacy for fair resource allocation and equitable distribution of wealth has brought attention to the challenges faced by marginalized communities in the country.

“Despite facing numerous challenges and obstacles, Tompolo has remained steadfast in his commitment to the welfare of the Ijaw people.

“His resilience in the face of adversity serves as an inspiration to all those fighting for justice and equality in Nigeria.

“As we commemorate Tompolo’s birth anniversary, let us reflect on his remarkable legacy and recommit ourselves to the ideals of unity, justice, and progress for all Ijaw people,” it reads.

According to him, “Let us also reaffirm our support for Tompolo’s continued leadership and advocacy for the Niger Delta, ensuring that his efforts are recognized and celebrated both nationally and internationally.

“The Ijaw Youth Council calls on the government and relevant stakeholders to honor Tompolo’s contributions by implementing policies that address the root causes of poverty, inequality, and environmental degradation in the Niger Delta region.

“We also urge the international community to support Tompolo’s vision for a peaceful and prosperous Niger Delta, recognizing the importance of sustainable development and equitable resource management in achieving lasting peace and stability in the region.

“Finally, Tompolo remains an emblem of hope and development in Nigeria, and his legacies will continue to inspire future generations to strive for a better and brighter future for all Nigerians,” it states.
