    NYSC sanction 35 Corps members in Bayelsa with service extension, repeat of service

    A total of 35 Corps members from the 2023 Batch A, Stream II service year in Bayelsa have been sanctioned by the National Youths Service Corps for various offences against the service code.

    It was learnt that while 21 corps members who committed various offences had their service extended, 14 corps members would repeat service.

    Mrs Obiageli Okpalifo, State Coordinator of NYSC in Bayelsa said on Sunday in Yenagoa that 1,075 Corps members passed out meritoriously having served the nation in Bayelsa for the 2023 Batch A, Stream II service year were discharged and issued their certificates of national service.

    The State Coordinator explained that the low-keyed ceremony held on Thursday featured the presentation of Certificates to Corps members at the Peace Park in Yenagoa.

    Okpalifo congratulated the corps members on successful completion of their service year.

    She commended the corps members for their immeasurable contributions to the state during their service year.

    She also commended the corps employers and traditional rulers and various host communities across the state for providing a conducive environment for corps members to serve the nation in the state.

    She further appreciated Gov Douye Diri of Bayelsa for his welfare packages and security of corps members in the state .

    She said that some corps members that distinguished themselves during the service year were rewarded with certificates of commendation.

    She enjoined those that took advantage of the Skills Acquisition and Entrepreneurship Development training programmes for their self reliance and becoming employers of labour.

    She noted that the efforts of NYSC staff who mentored, supervised and monitored the corps members in their various places of primary and secondary assignments was encouraging and contributed the the success recorded.
