The Nigeria Army’s 35 Artillery Brigade, stationed at Alamala, Abeokuta, has transferred 441 pawpaw-sized parcels, suspected to contain cannabis sativa weighing 223 kg, to the National Drugs Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) in Ogun State.

In a statement issued by the Acting Assistant Director of Army Public Relations, Lt. Mohammed Goni, the interception of a Mazda bus bearing plate number NRK 622 SB, transporting the suspected substance at Mologbede village in Odeda Local Government Area, occurred on Friday, March 29, 2024.

Brigadier General Mohammed Aminu, the Commander of 35 Artillery Brigade, commended the troops for their diligence and encouraged them to maintain vigilance in their assigned areas.

During the handover ceremony, which saw Major Gadzama Abdullahi representing the Brigade Commander, it was emphasized that the Brigade remains committed to collaborating with other security agencies to combat crimes and social vices within the state.

In response, Commander of Narcotics Jane Ibiba Odili from the NDLEA Ogun State Command expressed appreciation for the effective synergy between the military and other security outfits in the region. She praised General Aminu’s unwavering support, which has significantly contributed to the agency’s successful operations.

Highlighting the ongoing collaboration, Odili noted that this instance wasn’t the first time the military had intercepted a large quantity of cannabis sativa and handed it over to NDLEA. She underscored the importance of such joint efforts in dismantling drug syndicates and achieving comprehensive results in the fight against drug-related offenses.
