Dr. Allen Onyema, the Chairman of Air Peace, has called on Nigerians to rally behind indigenous businesses as a catalyst for economic advancement in the country. Speaking at the Silverbird Man of the Year Awards on Sunday, March 3, 2024, Onyema emphasized the pivotal role of supporting local enterprises in accelerating Nigeria’s economic development.

Highlighting the importance of creating a conducive environment for businesses to thrive, Onyema urged Nigerians to eschew violence and embrace peace. He stressed that fostering local businesses is essential for sustainable economic growth and urged citizens to prioritize Nigerian brands over foreign counterparts.

Referencing Air Peace’s recent initiative to introduce low fares for its London service, prompting foreign competitors to adjust their prices, Onyema underscored the significance of nationalistic initiatives in the business sector. He emphasized that supporting Nigerian businesses is an act of patriotism that should be embraced by all citizens.

Acknowledging the economic challenges facing Nigeria, Onyema called for support for President Bola Tinubu’s government, urging citizens to exercise patience as efforts are made to stabilize the economy.

Senator Ben Murray Bruce, CEO of Silverbird Group, echoed Onyema’s sentiments, urging Nigerians to throw their support behind Air Peace and other local businesses. He emphasized that sustainable economic development can only be achieved through the growth and patronage of indigenous enterprises.
