The Police Veterans Foundation, a new initiative aimed at supporting and uplifting retired police officers as they transition out of active duty, is set to be launched on Tuesday, March 5th, 2024. The foundation, established by a group of like-minded retired police officers, will address the growing concerns and pressures faced by retired personnel.

The inauguration ceremony will take place at the Auditorium of the Police Service Commission Corporate Headquarters in Jabi, Abuja. The event is expected to be attended by prominent personalities, including Governor Umo Eno of Akwa Ibom State, who will serve as the Chairman of the occasion. Other government officials, ministers, national assembly members, and captains of industries are also expected to grace the occasion.

Dr. Solomon Arase, the retired Inspector General of Police and Chairman of the Police Service Commission, emphasized the importance of the foundation in providing a nurturing environment for police veterans. He stated that the aim is to offer guidance, resources, and avenues for successful navigation of post-service challenges. The foundation will provide holistic assistance and support during the transition to civilian life, ensuring the well-being, dignity, and seamless integration of police veterans into society.

One of the key objectives of the Police Veterans Foundation is to seek resources and provide support to the children of police officers in terms of employment opportunities and skill acquisition. Additionally, the foundation aims to engage competent and capable retired officers as valuable resources for training and retraining programs for both the Nigeria Police Force and the Police Service Commission.

Dr. Arase expressed his commitment to making a meaningful and positive impact on the lives of police veterans and their communities. He also highlighted that Alhaji Aliyu Attah, the Chairman of the Body of retired Inspectors General of Police, will lead a strong delegation of retired senior police officers to the launch of the foundation.

The Police Veterans Foundation holds great promise in addressing the challenges faced by retired police officers and providing them with the necessary support to navigate their post-service lives successfully. This initiative will not only benefit the veterans but also contribute to the overall well-being of the society they have dedicated their lives to protect.
