In a recent development, the Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) in Ebonyi state has made a significant breakthrough by apprehending two suspected hoodlums allegedly involved in robbing victims of road accidents.
According to Mr. Igwe Nnabuife, the Sector Commander, the incident occurred following a lone accident involving a Ford Aspire bus on the Abakaliki-Enugu expressway. The vehicle, carrying nine passengers, lost control, resulting in the mishap on February 13th at 1:44 p.m.
Fortunately, there were no fatalities, although some passengers sustained injuries and were promptly taken to the hospital for medical attention.
Nnabuife disclosed that the FRSC was able to recover stolen money and other belongings belonging to the accident victims. The suspects have since been handed over to the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) for further investigation and subsequent legal actions.
He recounted how the hoodlums preyed on the helpless victims, looting their valuables until responders at the accident scene intervened, leading to their arrest.
Describing the actions of the suspects as regrettable, Nnabuife commended the efforts of his team in thwarting their criminal activities. He also expressed gratitude for the collaboration with the media and urged journalists to continue enlightening the public on societal values.
