Senator Adams Oshiomhole, representing Edo North, has attributed the current economic hardship in Nigeria to what he referred to as the “reckless policies” of former President Muhammadu Buhari. Oshiomhole expressed his concerns, noting that he protested against certain policies during Buhari’s administration that he believed were designed to dehumanize the already struggling population.

Speaking on Channels Television, Oshiomhole emphasized that he dissociated himself from those policies, and he was not alone in doing so. He pointed out that other governors also approached the court to denounce some of those policies. According to Oshiomhole, the current challenges faced by Nigerians are the long-term consequences of those policies implemented during Buhari’s administration.

While acknowledging his loyalty to Nigeria, Oshiomhole highlighted his dissatisfaction with the policies and expressed relief that he was not the only one who protested against them. He pointed out that the impact of those policies is still being felt.

In a related context, Oshiomhole also defended Bola Tinubu, stating that Tinubu cannot be held responsible for the economic hardships the country is facing. He cited the former Governor of the Central Bank of Nigeria, Lamido Sanusi, who mentioned that blaming Tinubu for the current economic situation would be unjust. Sanusi, too, noted that the economic challenges were a result of mismanaged policies over the past eight years.

Oshiomhole clarified that while Tinubu may not be entirely free from wrongdoing, he should not be blamed for the current economic challenges. He emphasized that he would speak out if he noticed any wrong economic policies from Tinubu’s administration in the future.
