Federal High Court Upholds Terrorism Charges Against Governor Fubara’s Supporters

In a recent development, the Federal High Court in Abuja has rejected the plea to dismiss terrorism charges against five individuals believed to be supporters of Governor Siminalayi Fubara of Rivers state. The charges are related to their alleged involvement in the recent attack on the state House of Assembly complex.

The accused individuals include Chime Eguma Ezebalike, Prince Lukman Oladele, Kenneth Goodluck Kpasa, Osiga Donald, and Ochueja Thankgod.

In a decisive ruling on Friday, Justice Bolaji Olajuwon maintained that the seven-count charge, identified as FHC/ABJ/CR/25/2024, was appropriately filed by the Inspector General of Police (IGP).

Justice Olajuwon endorsed the argument presented by the IGP’s legal representative, Simon Lough (SAN), emphasizing that the Nigeria Police Force (NGF) is authorized under the Terrorism (Prevention and Prohibition) Act 2022 to initiate and prosecute charges related to terrorism offenses.
