Heirs Energies, Africa’s leading indigenous-owned integrated energy company, has recently celebrated its third anniversary, marking significant milestones in production growth, transformational community engagement, and maintaining a sound safety record.

Established in January 2021 following the successful acquisition of oil license OML17 from the Shell Petroleum Development Company of Nigeria Limited, Total E&P Nigeria Limited, and ENI, Heirs Energies has rapidly emerged as a key player in Nigeria’s energy sector. The company’s commitment to excellence and sustainable practices has propelled it to the forefront of the industry.

Under the visionary leadership of Chairman Tony O. Elumelu, CFR, Heirs Energies has achieved remarkable milestones in just three years of operations. One of the key accomplishments is the significant rise in oil production, with output surging from 27,000 to 40,000 barrels per day. This achievement is particularly noteworthy as Nigeria strives to optimize its oil production amid challenges in the industry. Heirs Energies has also taken proactive measures to address pipeline security concerns, leading to a substantial reduction in theft and losses from a peak of 97% in late 2021 to less than 15%.

In addition to oil production, Heirs Energies has made significant strides in gas production for domestic use. The company has become a vital contributor to Nigeria’s domestic gas supply, with 100% of the gas produced being utilized within the country. This has not only met the local demand for energy but has also provided power to thousands of households, supported power plants, and bolstered gas-reliant industries in the region.

Heirs Energies has set a remarkable safety record, achieving three incident-free years and maintaining zero Loss Time Injury (LTI) operations in OML 17. This accomplishment reflects the company’s unwavering commitment to prioritizing the safety and well-being of its workforce. With 1.5 million man-hours without any significant incidents, Heirs Energies has demonstrated its dedication to maintaining top-tier safety standards.

The company’s community engagement initiatives have also been instrumental in forging strong relationships with local communities. Heirs Energies has embraced a philosophy of shared destiny, empowering over 300 young individuals through skill acquisition programs. Additionally, the company has made substantial electrical infrastructure upgrades in host communities, positively impacting the lives of more than 270,000 people. These efforts exemplify Heirs Energies’ commitment to fostering sustainable development and creating opportunities for local talent.

Heirs Energies takes great pride in its fully Nigerian team, which has played an instrumental role in the company’s success. The team’s unwavering dedication and innovative approach have positioned Heirs Energies as a world-class Nigerian organization, setting a high standard of excellence within the industry.

Chairman Tony O. Elumelu expressed his deep gratitude to the Heirs Energies team, led by MD/CEO Osa Igiehon, for their hard work and commitment to the company’s vision. He highlighted their role in establishing Heirs Energies as a role model within the energy sector and acknowledged their contributions in improving lives and communities across Africa.

Looking ahead, Heirs Energies remains steadfast in its commitment to a sustainable future. The company aims to play a significant role in Nigeria’s transition to a more sustainable energy source, bringing abundant and affordable power to schools, hospitals, and industries. By aligning with global sustainability goals, Heirs Energies continues to contribute to a more prosperous Africa.
