On Sunday night, a tragic road accident occurred on the Idiroko-Ota Road, resulting in the death of two individuals and injuring eight others, according to the Ogun Command of the Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC). Mr. Anthony Uga, the Ogun Sector Commander of FRSC, confirmed the incident on Monday in Ota, stating that the collision involved a MAN diesel truck with registration number LSR 10 YD and a Toyota Carina without a registration number.

The accident, which occurred around 8:00 p.m., involved ten individuals, including five male adults, four female adults, and a female child. The collision, attributed to wrongful overtaking, led to a head-on collision between the two vehicles, resulting in the fatalities of two male adults and injuries to the remaining eight.

Survivors were promptly transported to Idiroko General Hospital for medical attention, while the deceased were taken away by their respective families. FRSC personnel acted swiftly to tow the vehicles off the road, facilitating the smooth flow of traffic in the area.

Commander Uga seized the opportunity to caution motorists against reckless overtaking and urged them to exercise caution and reduce speed, especially during the festive season. Emphasizing the importance of clear visibility at night, he encouraged drivers to maintain a vision of 150 to 200 meters and control their speed before attempting to overtake.
