    Police Arrest Notorious Criminal Suspects, Rescue Two Kidnapped Victims in Benue State

    Benue State Police Command, has arrested some of the notorious criminals during joint operations by the Police and other security operatives in the last two weeks.

    Commissioner of Police in charge of Benue State, Mr George Chukwu, who disclosed this while briefing Journalists at the Police headquarters in Makurdi, hinted that a total of ten arms were recovered, two kidnapped victims rescued and 31 armed criminal suspects arrested.

    Mr Chukwu, explained that on December 3, the Police in Gboko received distress calls that armed robbers were robbing at Ayaba in Gboko, and that a team of Police Officers on patrol in the area swiftly moved to the scene and pursued the robbers to a nearby bush where four of them were arrested including Sangeun Ngugs male 23 years, Vershima Yaasa 23, Aondofa Targema 18 and Terngu Gbam age 17 of various addresses.

    The Commissioner of Police stated that items recovered from the the suspects include; one Toyota Jeep, plasma Tv and their operational motorcycle, pointing out that one Terfa Msugh, owner of the motorcycle was later arrested.

    Relatedly, Mr Chukwu, noted that on December 2, one Mark Akpobari 27 of Rivers State origin, a corp member at the Wannune Orientation camp was on his way to Port Harcourt when he came into contact with one Iji Joseph at Wurukum, Makurdi.

    Continuing, the Commissioner of Police, asserted that, Joseph raised an alarm that the corp member stole his genital organ and that attracted a mob who attacked the corp member who was beaten up until a police patrol team intervened, averring that the victim was taken to a hospital for treatment while the suspect arraigned in court for defamation of character and assault.

    CP Chukwu, who reminded members of public that the Command was carrying out operations to secure the state during the Yuletide, warned that the ban on bangers or knockout is still in force.

    He Implored parents and guardians to caution their children and wards against acts capable of breeching peace, adding that the Police will arrest anybody found violating the order during the periods.

    He described the media as very critical stakeholders in the job of security, expressing optimism that the Police and Journalists in the state would continue to maintain a cordial working relationship with him like they did with his predecessors.
