    Kogi Guber: SDPs Director, women mobilisation, Hadjia Salihu weeps over women safety during election

    The Director of women mobilisation, Hadjia Mariam Saluhu has expressed concern over the safety of women before, during and after the November 11th governership election.

    In an emotion Madden voice on Thursday in Lokoja, Hadjia Salihu told journalists that the women folks she has been speaking to were not comfortable with the way things are turning out in some parts of the state particularly in the Eastern Senatorial district where violence has been trailing every campaign outings.

    Hadjia Salihu who bursted into tears while speaking said that women have subjected to series of intimidation that may prevent them from coming out to participate in the election

    She noted that what is happening in this election was a clear pointer to the fact that women will face intimidation during the election.

    “I have been the Director of women mobilisation even during the campaign for the Tinubu’s Presidency,there was nothing to compare with what is happening now in terms of thuggery and violence we are witnessing now and women have always been at the receiving end anytime there is violence”. She said.

    ” Look at what happened in Konto-Nkarfe sometimes ago when a young woman was cut down in her prime through violence. Everywhere we have been to for campaign we have been victims of unprovoked attacks and this is impacting negatively on their willingness to come out during elections.

    Hajia Salihu called in President Bola Tinubu and the first lady, Oluremi Tinubu to stand up for women so that they will be allowed to exercise their franchise in the coming election.

    “Women have a right to decide who they want as their leader,they should not be denied their constitutional rights to vote,that is why the president,his wife, and the inspector general of police should rise up and perform their constitutional duties and defend the women folks
