In a distressing turn of events, celebrated Nollywood comedian, Mr. John Okafor, affectionately known as Mr. Ibu, is facing a dire health challenge that could result in the loss of one of his legs. The actor, who has been absent from the entertainment scene due to a deteriorating health condition, is urgently appealing to well-meaning Nigerians for help in his battle to prevent the amputation of one of his legs.

In a widely circulated video shared on Instagram, Mr. Ibu revealed that he has been bedridden for several weeks, grappling with an undisclosed illness and undergoing hospitalization. The actor disclosed that his medical team has informed him that amputation may become a necessity if alternative treatment options prove unsuccessful.

Speaking from his hospital bed, he expressed, “As I speak to you, I am still lying in the hospital. The medical director of this hospital said that if his new approach doesn’t work, the next option is to amputate my leg. Just think about it, where would I go if they cut off my leg? I’m seeking your prayers and assistance. I don’t want to lose my leg. Thank you so much, and may God bless you.”

Desperately seeking the support of fellow Nigerians, Mr. Ibu’s daughter, Jasmine Okafor, issued an emotional plea for prayers and financial assistance, stating that her father’s health condition is deteriorating, and his financial resources have been depleted. The family’s ultimate aim is to secure medical treatment abroad for the ailing actor.

In response to the distressing video, Peter Okoye, of Psquare fame, has called upon Nigerians and Mr. Ibu’s fans to rally to his aid as he confronts this life-threatening crisis. Peter Okoye pledged his full support for the beloved actor, emphasizing the importance of extending love and assistance to Nollywood legends who have brought joy to the screens for many years. He urged colleagues, friends, families, and fans to offer their prayers and financial support during this challenging period.

It’s worth noting that Mr. Ibu has faced numerous health challenges since 2019 when he claimed to have been poisoned by individuals envious of his successful career. His current struggle highlights the need for solidarity within the Nollywood community and the broader Nigerian public to ensure that one of the industry’s beloved figures receives the necessary care and support.
