In accordance with the authority vested in the President under Section 3(6) of the Corrupt Practices and Other Related Offences Act, 2000, and in line with the Renewed Hope mandate to enhance key institutions and bolster Nigeria’s anti-corruption efforts, President Bola Tinubu has given his approval for the appointment of a new management team to lead the Independent Corrupt Practices and Other Related Offences Commission (ICPC), pending confirmation by the Senate. The new appointees are as follows:

    1. Dr. Musa Adamu Aliyu — Chairman / Chief Executive Officer, ICPC
    2. Mr. Clifford Okwudiri Oparaodu — Secretary to the Commission, ICPC

The new ICPC Chairman will be presented for Senate confirmation, following the outgoing Chairman’s request for a pre-end of tenure leave, which has been approved by the President. The outgoing Chairman is set to commence his leave on November 4, 2023, ahead of the conclusion of his tenure on February 3, 2024.

Notably, the position of Secretary to the Commission does not require Senate confirmation. Therefore, the appointment of Mr. Clifford Okwudiri Oparaodu as Secretary to the Commission takes immediate effect, as directed by the President.

Dr. Musa Adamu Aliyu, who has served as the Attorney General of Jigawa State since September 2019, has initiated significant reforms during his tenure. He holds a Bachelor’s, Master’s, and Doctorate degrees in Law and was recently designated as a Senior Advocate of Nigeria in October 2023.

Mr. Clifford Okwudiri Oparaodu, a legal practitioner with over three decades of experience, has made meritorious contributions in the public service. He has served as a member of the Rivers State Judicial Service Commission and as Chairman of the Caretaker Committee of Port Harcourt City Local Government Council.

The President urges the new ICPC management team to carry out their responsibilities impartially and diligently, ensuring that all matters before them are handled with fairness and without bias.
