The Ebonyi State Police Command has joined officers across the country to commemorate 70 years of dedicated service by women in the Nigeria Police Force (NPF).

Led by the Commissioner of Police, CP Adaku Uche-Anya, women police officers in the command held a commemorative walk through the major streets of Abakaliki.

The officers used the occasion to raise awareness on critical social issues including corruption, drug abuse, child abuse, violence against women, domestic violence, human trafficking, drug trafficking, gender-based violence, and female genital mutilation.

The walk terminated at the popular Udensi Roundabout, where the Command Coordinator of the Nigeria Women Police (NIWOPOL), ACP Bridget Onukaogu, expressed profound appreciation to the Inspector-General of Police, IGP Kayode Egbetokun, for acknowledging the invaluable contributions of women in the NPF and for his sustained support.

She also lauded the Force Gender Advisor, AIG Aisha Abubakar, alongside CP Adaku Uche-Anya, for their exemplary leadership and unwavering commitment to enhancing the role of women in policing.

Wrapping up the day’s activities, the Commissioner of Police encouraged women officers to remain steadfast and continue making meaningful contributions to the NPF.

As part of the ongoing celebration, the command has lined up additional events, including a community and career outreach scheduled for December 3, 2025, and a Women Police Symposium on December 5, 2025.
