The Kano State Police Command has apprehended Abba Ibrahim, a 25-year-old suspect, for allegedly stabbing 22-year-old Zaharadeen Iliyasi to death with a knife. According to a statement released by SP Abdullahi Kiyawa, the command’s spokesperson, the incident occurred following a disagreement between the two friends in Chiranci Dorayi Quarters, Kano.

Upon receiving information about the altercation, Commissioner of Police Mohammed Gumel swiftly ordered the blocking of all entry and exit points in the state to prevent the suspect from escaping. Police operatives, led by CSP Ya’u Sadiq Abdu of Panshekara Division, were deployed to the scene.

Upon arrival, Iliyasi was rushed to Murtala Mohammed Specialist Hospital, where he was pronounced dead by a medical doctor. Ibrahim, the suspect, was apprehended while attempting to flee to Niger Republic.

Preliminary investigations revealed that Ibrahim confessed to committing the crime under the influence of intoxicating drugs. The Commissioner of Police has assured the public of a thorough investigation and prosecution, urging residents to cooperate with the police.

The suspect has been transferred to the command’s Homicide Section for further investigation.
