Former Zamfara State Governor and Senator representing Zamfara West, Abdulaziz Yari, has declared that the All Progressives Congress (APC) is poised to reclaim power in Zamfara State come 2027, expressing confidence in the party’s strength and grassroots structure.
Yari made this assertion while addressing a massive gathering of APC stakeholders at his Talata Mafara residence on Sunday, November 2, 2025.
He emphasized that the APC, despite currently not holding power in the state, could not be regarded as an opposition party due to its commanding presence and influence at the national level.
“Our presence here is to rekindle confidence among our members and remind everyone that APC remains Nigeria’s ruling party,” Yari said. “By 2027, we will return to lead Zamfara State. We cannot continue to be called the opposition.”
The event drew thousands of supporters and top APC figures, including Minister of State for Defence Bello Matawalle, Senator Sahabi Ya’u, Hon. Abdulmalik Zannan-Bungudu, Hon. Sulaiman Abubakar Gumi, and former deputy governors Ibrahim Wakala, Muktar Ahmed Anka, and Hassan Muhammad Nasiha.
Yari reaffirmed that the APC’s strong grassroots network and national dominance positioned it for a political resurgence, describing Zamfara as “an APC state by spirit and structure.” He urged members to intensify mobilisation across wards and local government areas to strengthen unity and readiness for the next election cycle.
Also speaking, Zamfara APC Chairman Umar Tukur Danfulani urged members to remain united, disciplined, and loyal, stressing that internal harmony was essential for the party’s success in 2027.
The stakeholders at the gathering reaffirmed their support for President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s administration, pledging full cooperation with the Federal Government’s reform and development agenda.
Yari commended President Tinubu’s economic and security policies, noting that the ongoing reforms would deliver lasting national benefits. He called on APC members in Zamfara to rally behind the president to ensure the state’s inclusion in the nation’s progress.
“We remain steadfast with President Tinubu,” Yari said. “The policies being implemented today are laying the foundation for growth, and Zamfara must be part of that success story.”
