No fewer than 1,000 top clergymen on Thursday participated in the 2025 edition of the “Rev. Waive Annual Day of Prayers”.
The religious leaders who converged at the Ughelli Kingdom Hall, were
drawn from Ughelli North, Ughelli South and Udu Federal Constituency and other parts of Delta Central, Delta State.
The prayers session brought together Christian leaders from the Catholic Secretariat of Nigeria (CSN); Christian Council of Nigeria (CCN) and Pentecostal Fellowship of Nigeria (PFN).
Others were from: the Organisation of African Instituted Churches (OAIC), Evangelical Church of West Africa (ECWA) and Church of Christ in Nation (COCIN).
The event focused on intercessions for Rev. Francis Waive, member representing Ughelli North, Ughelli South and Udu Federal Constituency at the National Assembly.
The Christian leaders commended the lawmaker who is also a Pastor and Chairman of the House Committee on Rules and Business in the lower chamber for maintaining his integrity in politics.
They also lauded Waive’s developmental strides in Ughelli North, Ughelli South, and Udu Federal Constituency and declared their overwhelming support for his political careers.
“You have brought no reproach to the name of Christ in your political career. We are proud of the positive impacts you continue to make in your constituency and the nation at large,” the clergymen declared.
The Christian leaders also offered prayers for President Bola Tinubu and Delta Governor, Sheriff Oborevwori.
They commended Rev. Waive for fostering a harmonious relationships with Delta State and the Federal Governments.
Speaking with newsmen shortly after the session, Rev. Julius Fovie reflected on the essence of the gathering.
“When we started this prayer session in 2019, some people mocked us, saying clergymen have no voter influence.
“Today, those same people now beg for prayers. Rev. Waive should continue to be strong and do exploits,” Fovie said.
Also, Rev Sunday Oghenechovwe thanked God for keeping his servant and expressed faith that God will continue to keep him.
On his part, Rev Emmanuel Eredoro urged the lawmaker to continue to raise the bar in quality representation and good governance.
Responding, Rev. Waive thanked the religious leaders and the Christian community for their unwavering support.
He assured them of his commitment to better representation and governance through the grace of God.
“Your prayers and encouragement inspire me to continue serving our people and raising the bar for effective representation,” Rev. Waive noted.
The clergymen who reaffirmed their belief in the power of prayers and collective effort to sustain good leadership, pledged to make the Day of Prayers an annual tradition and continues to pray for Rev. Waive.
Among the notable clergymen at the prayer session were: Rev. Fr. Jesuovie, Archbishop Solomon Gbakara,
Archbishop T.E. Obie, Ven. Azugo, Ven Kpangban.
Others were: Ven. B.A.C. Awaritoma, Pastor Gab Onobiokor, Bishop Idoro, Bishop Chris Okoh, Rev. D.P.O. Sotu, and Rev Gilbert Ogifo and amongst others.
