The Chairman, Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN), Kwara State Chapter, Right Reverend Sunday Adewole, has called on Christians to participate actively in the 2023 general elections to elect credible leaders that would move the country to greater heights.

Bishop Adewole, who is the Bishop of Anglican Diocese Kwara Communion, noted that the security of the Nation calls for serious concern, and advised the government at all levels, as well as the security agencies, to be more alive to their responsibilities by reining in the bandits, kidnappers, ritualists and insurgents so as to make the Nation a safe place to stay and live in by the citizenry.

In a statement on Sunday in Ilorin, the state capital, by the Secretary of the Association, Barrister Apostle Shina Ibiyemi, the Cleric, who said the country was destined to be great, called on the three tiers of government to make the welfare of the people their priority so as to reduce, to the barest minimum, hunger and poverty which are ravaging the country.

The cleric also called on Nigerians to be prayerful and work for the progress of the Nation as they celebrate Christmas, urging all and sundry to embrace peace and tranquility as “no meaningful development can take place in an atmosphere of rancour and bitterness”.
