Security has been heightened across Anambra State ahead of the second-term inauguration of Governor Chukwuma Soludo, with the police deploying 100 newly trained personnel to support operations during the ceremony.

The Anambra State Police Command said the officers, who recently completed armed and combat training at the Nigeria Police College in Oji River, will be deployed on duty as part of security arrangements for the swearing-in.

In a statement issued on Saturday, the Police Public Relations Officer, Tochukwu Ikenga, said the command had intensified security measures across the state as preparations heighten for the inauguration ceremony, which is expected to attract dignitaries from across the country.

Ikenga said the newly trained personnel would complement officers already strategically deployed to critical locations, while patrols and intelligence-gathering operations have also been strengthened to maintain law and order before, during and after the event.

According to him, the police are working in collaboration with other security agencies to ensure a peaceful and hitch-free inauguration.

He urged residents, stakeholders and visitors expected for the ceremony to remain law-abiding and cooperate with security personnel as efforts are being made to guarantee the safety of all dignitaries and members of the public.

The police spokesman reiterated the command’s commitment to providing adequate security and ensuring that the swearing-in ceremony is conducted in a peaceful and secure atmosphere.
