Why President Tinubu should commend Gov Otti, others – Igbo group

    Published on

An Igbo socio-cultural and pressure group, Nzuko Ndi Igbo, has urged President Bola Ahmed Tinubu to give honour to whom honour is due, as part of political strategy that would ensure synergy between him and some state governors who are in the forefront of delivering dividends of democracy to the people of their respective states
The group, through a press statement in Abuja, signed by its Convener, Prince Elias Odoemena, specifically singled out Governor Alex Otti of Abia State, whom the it said has tremendously impacted on the people of Abia State through the provision of diverse dividends of democracy which include human capital developments, provision of road infrastructure, building of hospitals, health centres, electricity, among others.
The Convener believes that President Tinubu should, as a matter of statesmanship, continuously make Gov Otti and other of his like minds in some states, as reference points to other political leaders, irrespective of party affiliations.
“Governor Otti and some governors are seriously delivering dividends of democracy in their respective states, thereby following the footsteps of our great president, who has been a touch-bearer on issue of delivery of democracy dividends,” Odoemena stated.
Prince Odomena observed that such democratic milestones in some states especially in Abia state could not have been possible if not the political ingenuity of Tinubu, who opened the doors for state governments to have more money in their treasuries, and the doggedness and economic sagacity of those state governors, who have made serious political and economic differences in their respective states, where the people are now enjoying the dividends of democracy.
He praised Governor Otti for what he described as raising the bar in governance in the last two years, by turning Abia State to the most secured state in the country for business, with modern infrastructure provided across various towns.
“Governor Alex Otti has raised the bar of governance in Nigeria higher and turned Abia State to be one of the most secured States to do business in Nigeria with huge infrastructure development through one of his secret moves known as Each day Many Projects Move; development initiatives which have finished more than two hundred projects under two years in office.”
Odoemena noted that despite all these achievements of the governor, anti development persons and failed politicians from the state,  have continued to be a clog in the wheel of progress of the state by their unfounded criticisms of the policies of the state governor.
He urged the governor not to be distracted by such utterances of failed politicians, but should rather be more focused in his drive to make Abia State number one in all human development indices.
Prince Odoemena asked President Tinubu to query some state governors who are not performing, and have failed to deliver dividends of democracy to their people, as the group believes that, at the end of the day, people would shift the blame to the President.
“President Tinubu should also ask the governors who are not performing to emulate Governor Alex Otti, Fintiri of Adamawa State, Adeleke of Osun State and even Federal Capital Territory Minister Barr. Nyesom Wike.”
