Legendary former Arsenal manager, Arsène Wenger, has showered praise on Barcelona midfielder Pedri, likening the 22-year-old Spaniard to ex-Arsenal captain Cesc Fàbregas in terms of football intelligence and on-field charisma.
Speaking on beIN SPORTS following Barcelona’s dramatic 4-3 Champions League semi-final defeat to Inter Milan at the San Siro, Wenger highlighted Pedri’s outstanding qualities
“For me, Pedri is absolutely unbelievable. He puts me on my knees,” said Wenger. “The science of a midfielder is in Pedri’s legs and brain. Everything he does is unbelievable.”
While much attention has recently focused on teen sensation Lamine Yamal, Wenger emphasized that Pedri’s authority, vision, and control make him the heartbeat of Barcelona’s midfield, drawing comparisons to a young Fàbregas, who broke through under Wenger’s guidance at Arsenal.
Pedri, who is set to make his 200th appearance for Barcelona before season’s end, has already won La Liga and a UEFA European Championship with Spain, further underscoring his rising legacy.
