    Visiting Journalists Laud Gov Nasir Idris

    Visiting journalists from Katsina, Zamfara and their counterparts in host Kebbi who were attending a training program in Birnin Kebbi took time off their tight schedules to visit some key projects of the Kebbi state government.

    Their training program, organized by an international NGO known as Search for Common Ground on Conflict Sensitive Reporting is taking place at the Azbir Hotel in Birnin Kebbi.

    The tour of projects took them to the state secretariat complex, the central motor park,the Mega Primary School under Construction in Birnin Kebbi and the Riverside at Dukku where they saw rice farming activities.

    The Kebbi state Commissioner of Information and Culture Alhaji Yakubu Ahmed BK who took them round the sites explained that the avalanche of infrastructure projects dotting the Kebbi landscape were the product of the commitment, foresight and courage of Dr. Nasir Idris who has proven to be Kebbi’s best Governor so far.

    He told the visiting journalists that when the present Governor took over barely two years ago, Kebbi had suffered from Visiting journalists from Katsina, Zamfara and their counterparts in host Kebbi who were attending a training on peace and conflict resolution took time off their tight schedules to visit some key projects of the Kebbi state government.

    He told the visiting journalists that when the present Governor took over barely two years ago, Kebbi had suffered from infrastructural decay and in some instances total lack of it – a situation which slowed the capacity of the state to generate reasonable internally generated revenue.

    Alhaji Ahmed explained that the effort of the Governor in providing roads, schools, health, agriculture and other critical sectoral infrastructure was driven by the need to improve the economy and place the state on the path of sustainable development.

    Some of the journalists who spoke at the two places visited expressed surprise at the rate the state has changed so dramatically with developments everywhere.

    Malam Ishaq Zaki who is the Chairman of the Correspondents Chapel of the Nigeria Union of Journalists Zamfara state Council commended the Governor for his sterling leadership qualities and for understanding the superiority of the yearnings and aspirations of the people of Kebbi state. He added that he felt proud with the achievements in Kebbi and called for more of it.

    Malam Tijjani Ibrahim of the Daily Trust Newspaper Correspondent in Katsina who also spoke congratulated the people of Kebbi state for choosing the right leader who has placed their interest far above any other.

    All the visiting journalists agreed that the kind of infrastructural development recorded in Kebbi state have capacity to improve its economy and bring about much needed development to improve the living condition of the people.
