Prince Harry established the charity Sentebale in honor of his mother, Princess Diana, and the British Charity Commission has opened an investigation into the organization.
The Commission said in a statement on Thursday that it would investigate whether the “current and former trustees, including its chair, have fulfilled their duties and responsibilities” of Sentebale.
Harry issued a statement in response to the news, expressing his satisfaction “that the Charity Commission confirmed they will be conducting a robust inquiry.”
“We are confident that it will reveal the truth that ultimately compelled us to step down.”
In honor of their mothers, Diana and Queen Mamohato of Lesotho, the Duke of Sussex and Prince Seeiso of Lesotho co-founded the foundation in 2006.
Sentebale was founded to address health concerns like HIV and AIDS, wealth inequality, and climate resilience among youth in Botswana and Lesotho, two countries in southern Africa.
