In less than two years, the Kaduna State Government has paid off the whopping domestic debt that was left behind by the administration of former Governor Nasiru El-Rufai.

This was made known by the Senior Special Assistant to the Executive Governor of Kaduna State, Sen. Dr. Uba Sani, on Resident Communities, Rev. Emmanuel Adebayo, via his social media handle.

“Due to the prudent utilisation of resources and ingenious financial management, despite the huge debt burden he inherited, our visionary leader, His Excellency, the Governor of Kaduna State, Distinguished Senator Dr Uba Sani, has governed Kaduna State successfully, and is executing numerous developmental projects, and he is still able to reduce the domestic debt from N87,282,487,580.65 that he inherited from the previous administration to N25,764,761,060.10 as at 31st December, 2024,” he wrote.

The Governor’s aide commended the Governor’s achievements in this critical aspect of the economy by almost paying off the entire domestic debt inherited  from the immediate past administration.

“He has paid off a whooping N61,517,726,520.55. We pray for him, trusting God to guide and protect his Excellency to succeed,” he revealed.

According to a report published by the Debt Management Office (DMO), domestic debt data for the 36 states of the federation and the FCT as at December 31st, 2024 shows that the Kaduna State Government has drastically reduced its domestic debt to only N25,764,761,060.10 as debt balance to be cleared.

This domestic debt data report is said to have been generated from the recently signed-submissions received from the State cumulative of the payment made in the last two years of Governor Uba Sani’s administration.
