Trump’s threat: Overhaul national security architecture, ADC urges Tinubu

The African Democratic Congress (ADC) has called on President Bola Ahmed Tinubu to carry out a complete overhaul of Nigeria’s national security architecture following threats by former U.S. President Donald Trump to launch military strikes on Nigeria over alleged persecution of Christians.

In a statement signed by its National Publicity Secretary, Hon. Bolaji Abdullahi, the ADC accused the Tinubu administration of failing to protect lives and property across the country, saying the nation’s security system had collapsed under his watch.

The party demanded an independent audit of security operations, leadership, and strategy, as well as the appointment of qualified ambassadors to restore Nigeria’s global credibility.

It also urged Tinubu to “reset foreign policy grounded in national interest, not personal promotion,” and implement urgent economic reforms to stabilize prices and alleviate hardship.

While acknowledging international concern over Nigeria’s insecurity, the ADC cautioned against any foreign military intervention, warning it would “do more harm than good and undermine Nigeria’s democratic and territorial integrity.”

“Nigeria is not beyond saving,” the statement read. “But time is running out. We must act now with courage and clarity to protect the lives and dignity of every Nigerian.”
