Trump Promises Strong Military and Peace Solutions for Global Conflicts

President-elect Donald Trump reiterated his commitment to a robust military and resolving global conflicts, including the ongoing war between Russia and Ukraine, during a speech at the America First Policy Institute gala at Mar-a-Lago, Florida.

    ### Prioritizing Peace and Strength

Trump emphasized his plans to rebuild the military and reduce international tensions, especially in Eastern Europe. “We’re going to fix our military… and work very hard on Russia and Ukraine. It’s got to stop,” he said, reaffirming his ambition to negotiate a peace deal between Kyiv and Moscow, though details remain unspecified.

    ### Criticism of Past Spending

Highlighting his “America First” approach, Trump criticized extensive U.S. spending in Afghanistan, referencing the chaotic withdrawal in 2021 after 20 years of military involvement. He has also questioned the ongoing multibillion-dollar U.S. support for Ukraine, crucial to its defense, suggesting a reevaluation of Washington’s role in the conflict.

    ### New Leadership and Budget Cuts

Trump announced the nomination of Fox News host and National Guard veteran Pete Hegseth as defense secretary. If confirmed, Hegseth would oversee the military’s $850 billion annual budget. Additionally, Trump has tasked billionaire entrepreneur Elon Musk with identifying $2 trillion in federal budget cuts from the $7 trillion annual government expenditure.

As Trump prepares to take office, his foreign policy approach promises to blend military strength with diplomacy, aiming to redefine U.S. global engagement.
