Troops of the 93 Battalion, Nigerian Army’s 3 Division, Operation SAFE HAVEN, successfully repelled a bandit attack on Chanchanji community in Takum Local Government Area (LGA) of Taraba State on November 13, 2024. The attack, which occurred around 10:30 am, was believed to be a reprisal by bandits following the recent arrest of 12 suspects in the area.

Security expert Zagazola Makama reported that the Nigerian Army had apprehended 12 suspected kidnappers on November 9, 2024, in the same community, recovering 14 motorcycles, a pistol, and two bags of Indian hemp.

During the clash, the troops engaged the armed bandits, forcing them to retreat. One bandit was neutralized, and troops recovered several items, including an AK-47 rifle, two AK-47 magazines, twelve rounds of 7.62mm special ammunition, and a Motorola handheld radio.
