Transfers: Bright Osayi-Samuel confirms Fenerbahçe exit

    Published on

Nigerian international Bright Osayi-Samuel has formally informed Fenerbahçe of his decision to leave the club at the end of the season.

According to insider reports shared by Nigerian journalist Buchi Laba, Osayi-Samuel’s camp has officially passed the message to the Fenerbahçe hierarchy, which brings an end to months of speculation over his future.

Osayi-Samuel, whose contract runs out later this month, is now focused on securing a return to England, where he previously featured for Queens Park Rangers.

The 27-year-old defender has attracted offers from several clubs across Europe and is carefully weighing his next move.

It would be recalled that the Nigerian had talked about his ambition to return to the English Premier League, which could be a deciding factor in this summer transfer window.

“I think everyone knows that my ambition is to play English football, to play in the [English] Premier League, you know.

No disrespect they [fenerbahçe sk] have done some much for me there [in Turkey]. But my ambition is to play in the Premier League. So when I feel that the time is the right time for me to go, I will take it,” he said.

Despite his desire to head back to England, the Super Eagles star is keeping his options open.

Osayi-Samuel joined Fenerbahçe in 2021 and quickly became a fan favourite thanks to his work rate, and ability to play both as a right-back and winger.

However, the club’s failure to offer a contract extension — combined with internal misinformation about his salary demands — has led the Nigerian to seek a new challenge.

This puts to an end a significant chapter for both the player and the club, with Fenerbahçe now set to lose him on a free transfer in the summer window.
