In a horrifying incident that has left the University of Nigeria, Nsukka (UNN) community in shock, Chibuzor Ozioko, a 300-level philosophy student, was brutally murdered on the evening of September 27, 2023. Reports suggest that Chibuzor, who operated a motorcycle business to finance his education, was attacked by thugs in Ofuluinu, Nsukka Local Government Area, Enugu State, around 9:30 pm.

The brave young man resisted when the thugs attempted to snatch his motorcycle. However, he was tragically overpowered, and the assailants ruthlessly smashed his head with a hammer before fleeing the scene with his motorcycle. The incident has plunged the university community into mourning.

A senior lecturer from the philosophy department, speaking anonymously, confirmed the heartbreaking incident, lamenting the loss of a dedicated student whose life was cut short prematurely.

In another disturbing incident, the Plateau State Police Command has confirmed the killing of Fwinbe Thomas, a 35-year-old bus driver, by suspected hoodlums believed to be motorcycle riders. The attack occurred after Thomas accidentally scratched a motorcycle rider with his vehicle while driving home after work on Monday.

Enraged by the minor accident, the hoodlums pursued the driver and assaulted him along Tudun Wada Ring Road in Jos, ultimately causing his death. The police spokesperson, Alabo Alfred, condemned the brutal killing, revealing that the victim had sustained multiple head injuries during the attack. These incidents highlight the alarming rise in violence and lawlessness, raising concerns for the safety of citizens.
