Tinubu Support Group in Bayelsa says Tinubu’s is on course

    Published on

The Bayelsa chapter of Tinubu Support Group (TSG) says the Tinubu-led administration is on courseand weathering the storms of the economic challenges posed by the country following ongoing reforms.

The support group organised an interactive session with media practitioners to commemorate the one year anniversary of the Tinubu administration.

The group noted that the administration had pursued the reforms consistently in the past one year and urged Nigerians to be patient with the adminstration.

Mr Ebitimi Amgbare, Cordinator of TSG in Bayelsa who listed the achievements of the Tinubu administration across serlveral sectors attributed astronomical food inflation rate to consequences of removal of fuel subsidy.

Amgbare noted that the palliative measures to cushion the impact of the subsidy removal including roll out of Compressed Natural Gas (CNG) buses, distribution of palliatives and N35,000 wage award were meant to ammeleriorate the sufferings of Nigerians.

He however regretted that the profit maximisation by traders was a major obstacle to expected reduction in the cost of goods.

Amgbare who was recently appointed the Managing Director of Niger Delta River Basin Development Authourity regretted that the agency has been neglected.

“Although the Niger Delta River Basin Development Authourity was concieved by the colonial masters to calm the agitations for development, it has been historically neglected in terms of funding and remained commatose until the Tinubu administration decided to change the narrative.

“We need the support of all stakeholders including the media in our advocacy for adequate funding. For instance, while our budgetary allocation stands at N2 billion, the Sokoto River Basin Development Authourity gets as much as N50 billion,” he said.
